Keeping the lights on is no easy task and involves tons of people at multiple levels under normal weather conditions. So when a category one hurricane is threatening your systems, you don’t take chances. The entire East Coast energy complex is currently working to protect the system from any damage the storm may cause. Here is a the story by T.L. Hamilton, Patrick Badgley from Platts Energy Week.: http://www.plattsenergyweektv.com/story.aspx?storyid=164455&catid=29

Please remember if you have an emergency generator make sure you have enough fuel to run in the event of a power outage.
